In einem Münchner Klinikum ist ein 73-jähriger aus dem arabischen Raum am Coronavirus gestorben. Der Patient hatte sich wahrscheinlich in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten infiziert und war vor rund einer Woche in das Klinikum eingeliefert worden. Er litt zudem an erheblichen Vorerkrankungen.
Aktuell gibt es 17 bekannte Infektionsfälle mit dem SARS-verwandten Virus. Neun Infizierte starben an der Infektion. Im Oktober vergangenen Jahres gab es in Deutschland bereits einen Infektionsfall. Der Patient ist mittlerweile gesundet.
Das Robert Koch Institut RKI sieht aktuell kein erhöhtes Risiko für die Allgemeinbevölkerung: "Es gibt nach wie vor keinen Nachweis einer kontinuierlichen Mensch-zu-Mensch-Übertragung. In Deutschland gab es bisher nur zwei importierte Erkrankungsfälle. Es besteht kein erhöhtes Risiko für Erkrankungen in der Allgemeinbevölkerung".

This presentation shares key observations from Sandy from the perspective of preparedness planning community; points out the ways in which Sandy surprised us and discusses whether traditional preparedness planning tools, techniques, and methods are sufficient to plan and deal with such events.
